School Policies

S.S. Students

1. All male Senior Secondary School Students shall wear sky navy blue long sleeve shirt on a royal blue trouser together with a royal blue tie with sky blue stripes.

  1. And on their legs, they shall wear black socks in their black flat shoes.
  2. The female students in the Senior Secondary School shall wear sky-blue long sleeve blouse on a royal blue skirt, with a royal blue tie with sky-blue stripes.

Junior Secondary School

A male student in Junior Secondary School shall wear a Sky-blue short sleeved shirt on a royal blue trousers together with a royal blue tie with sky-blue stripes.

A female Junior Secondary School Student shall wear a royal blue pinafore on a sky blue blouse.

All boys shall wear sky blue short sleeved shirt on a knicker while girls wear gowns made of royal blue body, but sky blue sleeves and collars.

All our children must have muffler.

  1. All boarding students must observe their personal devotion and keep their personal devotion note.
  2. All the students in the hostels must observe a daily morning function.
  3. They must maintain a very neat environment.
  4. They must change their bed-spread at least once a week.
  5. Loud noise, quarreling and fighting are on absolute prohibition in the hostels. Students who fight in the hostels will be rusticated.
  6. All students in the hostels must be part of the weekly inspection to be carried out by the Principal or his/her delegate(s).
  7. No student in the hostel is allowed to use another person’s property without the permission of the owner.
  8. Used sanitary towels must be disposed properly and NEVER in the toilet.
  9. All students in the hostels are required to observe the light-out.
  10. No student must be out of the hostel premises anytime in the night without the permission of the House Master/Mistress or matron and unaccompanied.
  11. No student in the hostel must receive any gift of any kind from anybody without the permission of the house master/ mistress or matron
  12. Any act of indiscipline and or insubordination to the hostel prefects and or house master/ mistress or patron or matron or any authority appointed to oversee the pupils/ students in the hostel shall be taken very seriously and they shall appear before the disciplinary committee.
  13. All clothes washed must be taken from the line before light – out and no cloth must be allowed to sleep out till the following morning. Any cloth seen on the line will be arrested and the owner will bail the cloth by one hour labour on the agricultural farm.
  14. No sim card must be seen by any student in the hostel. Any student found with a sim card will have his device seized and quarantined for two months and the sim card will be destroyed.
  15. Prayers and fasting and several other spiritual activities to enhance the spiritual development in the hostels and the pupils/students, will be required to participate fully. Any student who fails to participate will appear before the disciplinary committee.
  16. All students in the hostel are required to have inner wear and it must be white in colour.
  17. Punctuality and commitment are part of the training for our royal leaders. Any student caught coming late for our programmes will be arrested and will appear before the disciplinary committee.
  18. A student who comes late to the dining hall will forfeit that meal and will not have a replacement until the next meal.
  19. Perfumes and make-up materials are considered as contra-band in the hostels.

A student looks up to the teacher as a master, mistress and mentor as well as his/her parent in school. Therefore, teachers and other staff members must treat students and pupils as their disciples and must model the life of Christ for them.

Their communication before the students must be worthy of emulation. Their emotion before the students must be exemplary. Their appetite before the children must be under control. Their love for the students must be unconditional.

In TNCBA, the relationship between the staff members must be colleagueate and collectivistic. They must work as a team and as a family of God. They must operate like the engine of a car and just like the engines having many parts and all the parts work together to achieve maximum efficiency, so must the  staff team behave. Frictions between the movable parts of the engine will cause abrasion and consequently, very poor efficiently; though so much of energy is invested, little work would be done.

The management may be compelled to remove them out of the lot so that the system might return to proper efficiency. Any open court quarrel between members of staff would attract disciplinary actions. And this will be determined by the staff disciplinary committee.

No staff member must be seen to defraud another staff member.

Staff members of opposite gender must maintain holiness and purity in their relationship.

If two members of staff who are single fall in love and wish to marry, they must make it open to enable the school help them actualize their dream.

Under no circumstance would any teacher fall in love with a student while the student is still in the school.

The school is an industry and the students are the product of this industry. The academic standard of the  children is the quality assessment of the product of this industry. Therefore, the school must maintain a high academic quality since the school aims to produce graduates of international standard.

  1. The school must recruit the best or among the best of the teachers; every teacher that joins the  faculty must consider him/herself  to be one  of the best teachers and must work hard to prove that.
  2. The students must know that they are not supposed to be average students academically, but they must come out with an excellent grade. Hence, as a policy, in-taking entrance and scholarship examination. The examination questions are set to meet international standard.
  • We insist that our instructions must be both practical and theoretical and the students must not be assisted in any examination. Therefore; our minimum pass mark in secondary school is 60%. Students that score less than 60% are considered to have failed such examination.
  1. Our S.S.S. students must do a research project and write a report under supervision which must be finished and submitted before they are promoted into SSS three class.
  2. Our students who have passed at the A-grade are expected to write an international scholarship examination to gain admission into international campuses for their further studies.
  3. The school must run practical classes in all subjects including arts and commercial subjects.

The school shall set up a student disciplinary committee to include the head prefect, a teacher in charge of discipline, the V. Principal and 2 other people who will sit over cases of indiscipline among students and prescribe disciplinary actions, against erring students, to the school authority.

Some practices that will attract discipline will include the following;

  1. Examination malpractices in any way, manner or form
  2. Theft
  3. Lying
  4. Quarreling and fighting
  5. Truancy
  6. Lateness
  7. Dirtiness
  8. Rudeness
  9. Immoral tendency
  10. Acts of seduction
  11. Conspiracy
  12. Abdication of responsibility, delegation of duty.
  13. Face booking or indulgence in social media

Any student engaged in any of these and or other related offences shall be made to face disciplinary committee.

Any organization that lacks discipline can never survive. Certain disciplinary requirement shall be met by members of staff. The school shall set up a staff disciplinary committee. The committee shall be headed by the coordinator and two or three other members of staff. The disciplinary committee shall look into any act of indiscipline among the members of staff and prescribe proper disciplinary action where necessary. Some of the acts regarded as act of indiscipline include the following.

Some of them include;

  1. Laziness
  2. Truancy
  3. Insubordination
  4. Unfaithfulness
  5. Lying
  6. Abuse of office
  7. Corruption in any form or mode
  8. Indecency
  9. Reckless use of capital punishment on a student.
  10. The use of vulgar language on a student
  11. Misappropriation of fund generated as a result of school assignment.
  12. Quarrelling and fighting
  13. Lateness to duty
  14. Abdication of assignment
  15. Acts of irresponsibility
  16. Incompetence
  17. No members of staff should be absent from their duty post for any period of time without proper permission.
  18. Staff members who do so will be queried and or dragged before the disciplinary committee for proper action.

Total inventory of all of the school’s movable assets must be kept. Each department must also keep inventory of all the movable assets in their custody. The head of that department shall be held accountable for any deficit from the records of the movable assets in his/her department.

The inventory shall be reviewed every year to keep steps with changes as per damages or and acquisition.

There shall be a store keeper who keeps record of all the things kept in the  store whether in the general store or food store or the store containing stationeries and books. Nothing will be taken out of any store without been properly signed out by the requisitor. When any material is signed out of the store, the officer who signs out of the store shall be responsible for such materials until they are returned to the store and properly signed in.  Consumable materials may not be so returned but records of consumption must be submitted to the store officer.

No person, staff or student must be seen in possession of any school movable asset, which was not properly signed out. This includes chairs and lockers, laboratories apparatus, agricultural implements, food stuff, tables, electronic and electrical equipment, pens and markers, etc.

Every teacher and staff must sign out every school materials and equipment under their hands.

The New Covenant Baptist Academy is set up with the aim of operating at international standard. Therefore, we shall take advantage of information technology. Hence, the school decided to adopt digital learning alongside with our normal classroom person to person contact instructions. Consequent upon that, the school decided to set up a V-SAT that is very small aperture terminal. And with the aim of operating an e-library system in a full fledge (fully equipped IT suitable for CBT for local and international examinations.) The school therefore shall mobilize computer system using windows operating systems to furnish our libraries and the IT laboratory.

The school library shall be available to both students and staff. But for any student or staff to be able to use the library, they must register with the library. Registration into the classical analogue library will be free for all staff and students but registration to use the e-library will require a token to grant the user a pin number through which the reader will be able to access the libraries. Every library user must have a library card to be allowed into the library and to borrow books from the library. The school shall replenish the library with books and journals from time to time in order to keep the library up to date with modern academic information.

Friends of the school and well-wishers will always be welcome to donate literatures, journals, magazine and newspapers to the library.

The school must be fenced and gated. The gate of the school shall be manned all day and night by an experienced security staff. No visitor may be allowed into the school premises without proper identification. All visitors who come into the school must sign in and sign out when they go. Details of all the visitors including their telephone contacts must be kept. No stranger would be allowed contact with any student who have not been properly identified to be qualified in compliance with the down requirement as stated earlier on. All persons that come in with the intention to see any  members of staff or the management will be allowed into the reception room after consultation with the staff and securing their consent and approval. No guest shall be allowed in to see any of the pupils/students during the school session. A name tag or a visitor’s tags which are kept by the security officer at the security post shall be given to any visitor who shall wear same on his shoulder when he/she goes in to see any member of staff. All students will be required to wear their I.D cards everyday when they come to school. Pupils/Students that fail to wear their I.D card will be turned back at the gate. No student under any circumstances must be seen to attempt jumping the fence, any of such attempts will attract a very severe disciplinary consequence.

TNCBA shall maintain linkages with schools of like mind both locally and internationally. Schools & institution that believe in the Jesus focus learning and insist on high moral standard, Christian Life Formation leadership development and total life discipleship for every child. We would (where possible) maintain relationship with schools that operate digital learning system and teach practical aspect of all subjects like we do. In TNCBA every subject has both practical and theory whether it is science, Art or Commercial subject.

Hence, all our students write research project at the final term of SS2. We would also maintain linkages with international organizations. Such as, NGO’s FBO &Ministries of Education of nations that will be able to help our products in educational pursuit beyond ordinary level.

  • No student in the hostel must be seen loitering under any circumstances
  • All students must comply with the hostel requirement and dining rules that shall be issued to them.
  • No amorous relationship must be perceived to exist between any two or more students on the campus.
  • No student is allowed to be on social media except on conditions approved by the principal.
  • No parent may visit any student outside the visiting day.
  • No cooked food must be sent to the boarding student outside the visiting day.
  • And on the visiting day, any food brought to any boarding student by any person other than the parents known by the school authority will be rejected. Therefore every food brought to any student will have to be inspected and approved by the relevant authorities before the student concerned would be allowed to eat. Any student who collects any prepared food without recourse to the above instruction shall suffer punishment.
  • No parent must send any friend or relation who the school does not know to and represent them on the visiting day.
  • Every student must learn to be content with what he/she has and must not parasite on another student.
  • Every symptom of ailment must be reported immediately to the appropriate quarters.
  • No telephone other than the tablets which has been provided for studies must be seen with the students, such a device shall be seized and sent to the mission fields.
  • No two students must be seen to sleep together on the same bed.
  • Pornography is considered to be a very grievous offence and any child caught viewing it or noticed to have viewed it shall be made to appear before the disciplinary committee and be rusticated.
  • Due to the reluctances of the hospitals to accept patients in the hospitals for fear of corona virus, the school shall in collaboration with the parents forum upgrade our healing bay and employ a nurse to provide at least primary health care services to our children.
  • To this end, the school would demand for contributions, donations in cash and kind to achieve this goal.
  • Students shall not be allowed to share water bottles, drinking cups and cutleries. Parents, therefore, would be required to supply these things for their children. In order to observe proper social distancing, students shall not be allowed to share umbrella. So, every student should come to school with an umbrella and or raincoat.

  • Every member of staff particularly the Academy staff in the Academy is expected to grow in their career pursuit. Several means of grace will be made available for any staff that wants to improve his/her academic career. There shall be annual staff improvement examination at the takeoff of every session & every Teachers who will retain his/her job is expected to pass the test.

    Teachers that are not yet professionally qualified will be encouraged to go for self-improvement by taking professional training in the vocation such as; Post. Graduate Diploma in Edu etc. The minimum required qualification to teach in the Secondary School is a Bachelor Degree and Equivalent and the minimum required qualification to teach in the primary or pre-primary schools is NCE and equivalent.

  • The school shall maintain a staff development programme which shall include continuous on or off the job training to enhance capacity building and productivity.
  • Our teachers and staff members shall be expected to grow and attain to the peak of their carrier and educational attainment. To this end, the school shall have a staff development committee to be chaired by the coordinator.
  • A staff qualifies for promotion who has several meritoriously and who has scored above 70% in his annual evaluation and has passed his or improvement assessment test, having not received any query, suspension or any other kind of punishment during that period of service and who has proved to be worthy in character and exemplary in deportment.   
  • Promotion is not a right but a privilege that accrues to a staff member who has proved worthy of it. The school shall have a welfare committee that shall take responsibility for accessing and determining the welfare packages from time to time.
  •  
  • Staff members may be entitled and or granted different kinds of leaves as the need may arise ranging from annual leave to maternity leave, study leave, examination leave and casual leaves.

    Annual leave will be restricted to long vacation period and no person may be granted annual leave who has not spent more than six months after joining the organization.

    All casual leaves granted to any person in a year will be considered as part of his annual leave in a year.

    Sick leave may not be granted to a person without a doctor’s note. Such a doctor who must be a qualified medical practitioner must have observed and understood that it is necessary for the person to rest in order to recover well. Sick leave when granted cannot be more than one week at a time.

    A staff member who remains unwell for over two months would be relieved of his/her employment to enable him look into his health issues properly and to make allowance for the future of the children.

  • In order to deal with personal problems and stresses which may come at different times, a member of staff may request for loans or salary advances. Such loans advances may be granted considering the finances of the school and the commitment of the staff in question.

    Loans and advances so granted shall not exceed 50% of the staff’s annual remuneration

  • Teachers and other members of staff may be granted rebate on their children’s school fees if those children are registered in the academy. The extent of the rebate will be determined and reviewed from time to time by the management.

    The school shall not grant rebate in any manner or form for a child registered in another school.

     A staff member’s child may not enjoy staff rebate and scholarship at the same time, where a student on ground of excellency in performance is granted scholarship, the staff member shall choose which one he / she prefers either the rebate or the scholarship.

  • Confirmed workers with TNCBA are supposed to be on a permanent and pensionable appointment and on salary grade levels of 1 – 16 [details in another place]

    Graduates enter at level 8; NCE holders and Ordinary National Diploma enters at level 6; Non academic staff, junior staff cadre enter according to their level of education and experience [details in another place]

    Several other allowances and benefits relates to the levels and steps.

  • Every new staff member will be on a probationary period of one year after which, he/she shall receive a letter of confirmation of employment if he has proved worthy of confirmation by satisfactory performance having contributed to the growth and development of the academy. 

    If he/she fails to satisfy the academy during the period of probation, his appointment may not be confirmed and one of these two things may apply to him/her:

    1. His appointment may be terminated for lack of satisfactory performance
    2. His probation period might be extended for a period of six month in the first instance and if necessary another six month.
    3. A staff member under probation shall not be entitled to allowances. He/she will be given half of the duration of the annual leave but without leave allowance.
    4. If he decides to leave during the probation periods, he will be required to give a one month notice or one month salary in-lieu of notice or vice versa.
  • A staff member of TNCBA may resign or be terminated or dismissed, each case according to the situation that makes it necessary.

    A staff who resigns from the employment would give one month notice or one month salary in-lieu of notice.

    A teaching staff member may not be allowed to resign in the middle of an academic session but he must resign during the long vacation. A staff member may be terminated by the management. Such a staff will be paid his/her entitlement and all his salary. He/she shall be given one month notice or one month salary in-lieu of notice.

    A staff member may be dismissed. Such a staff may not be entitled for anything except his pension premium is already paid for his pension account

    A staff member may be terminated or dismissed on certain grounds:

    • A male staff member who compromises morality in relationship with a female student.
    • A staff member who notices indecent moral behaviours among students and ignores it, instead of taking to pragmatic actions to correct them or reporting them to the proper authorities.
    • A teacher who assists a student in committing examination fraud.
    • A male teacher or a female teacher who is seeking to be in immoral relationship with his/her colleagues.
    • A staff member who is fond of excessive anger or unable to control his or her emotions.
    • A staff member who is engaging in open verbal assault with the parents.
    • A teacher who often verbally put down his/ her student being not a child of encouragement.
    • A teacher who indecently exposes herself by lewd appearance and would not heed correction.
    • A teacher who collects money from students for marks or and who defrauds any students in whichever way, manner or form.
    • A teacher who is known to direct prospective parents away from the school to some other school.
    • A teacher who collects money from parents by false pretence and such money meant for the student school fees.
    • A teacher who is unable to pass his self improvement assessment test conducted every year.
    • Teachers who upon evaluation by the disciplinary committee are found unsuitable to continue in this organization and are recommended for termination.
  • The school must have a good maintenance culture. The maintenance officer must ensure that the vehicles and all machineries whether automotive or electronic are regularly maintained and kept in a perfect working condition. The building and all movable properties must also be maintained. To maintain functionality and ecstatic. The school will endeavour to maintain retainership with some competent technicians to ensure that our tools to equipment are promptly and regularly attended to.

    The cashier may not disburse any fund for maintenance unless directed otherwise by the coordinator until all processes of approval are properly executed.

    Funds released for maintenance purposes must be fully retired before subsequent request for fund will be made. Failure to retire former request will imply that subsequent request will be denied.

  • Admission to the Academy is mainly by Entrance examination. On very few occasions, a student may be admitted by transfer. Even though he/she must pass a class placement test to determine his/her suitability for the class he/she wants to register into. If the prospective transfer student fails to meet the cut-off mark required for admission into the class, he/she might either be denied admission or be stepped down to a lower class.

    Scholarship Entrance Examination is conducted in the first quarter of every year to recruit new entrants into the school. Based on performance at the entrance examination some student would be awards scholarship. The scholarship awarded is renewable every year. A student on scholarship will retain his/her scholarship if he/she maintains the minimum cut-off required for the scholarship. The student would automatically loose the scholarship if his/her academy performance falls below the required level. The cut off level is determined by the School Management and approved by the Board of Trustees.

    A student on scholarship must also be found worthy in character if it is discovered that a student on scholarship begins to manifest character attributes unexpected of him/her he/she could also loose the scholarship. Thus, the student on school scholarship must be excellent in academic performance and exemplary in deportment. He/she must be well-spoken of by the community both at home and at school. He must daily GROW IN CHRISTAIN Character and exhibit some leadership qualities.

    Admission forms become available for sales from January 2nd of each year.

    When a prospective student has written the entrance examinations and has scored the pass mark, he/she would be invited to attend an interview. The prospective student is expected to attend the interview with his/her parent or caretaker. The interview is the point of final selection. The prospective student is expected to pass the selection interview and the parent or caretaker is expected to view the philosophy of the school firsthand and to agree with the philosophy and the statement of faith of the school.

    The prospective student may be denied admission if the parent does not agree with the philosophy and the statement of faith of the school.

    Admission offered to any prospective student remains provisional until the student submits his/her complete comprehensive medical report and also pays the prescribe acceptance fee. No space may be reserved for any candidate who has not paid the acceptance fee. The acceptance fee is non-refundable.

    During the admission interview, the school will normally request of the child to state the dream of what he dreams to become. The parent would also be asked to state any dream they had of the future of the child. That might not be what the child will become but it will help the school to know what to do while watching the child grow in stature and in learning, and to know better how to guide the child and the parent in the child career choice.

    Note that dream here does not mean night vision but the aspiration of the child and the desire of the parents.

    • Balanced diet must be provided for every child daily.
    • Day students must come to school either with their lunch bag or they register for school lunch.
    • The school must ensure that the children are fed adequately to enhance their mental development. Thus, they must also have time for physical exercise.
    • All students must have at least 2 changes of uniform and five changes of underwears.
    • Every student must have enough immunization against the common diseases prevailed in the land
    • We insist that our children must submit complete certificate of their health status at the beginning of every session.
    • Dental and opthamological assessment must be included
    • All students must be dewormed regularly
    • No student shall be allowed to keep long finger nails or toe nails, neither shall cortex be allowed to be used by any student. Either eye lashes, nor eye shadows shall be allowed.
    • Due to the present global condition, environment and personal hygiene is being given utmost attention. Therefore, our students are required to make hand washing and personal cleanliness a habit. All our students will be required to bring to school at the beginning of every term, a pack of toilet tissue, 2 cannisters of spray sanitizer and two bottles of hand sanitizers.
    • The school in collaboration with the parent will provide face mask for the students/children.
  • Every parent must either come personally to carry the children or assign someone to do so on their behalf. The person who may come to carry the child must be pre-registered as the school shall no more allow any person who is not pre-registered with the school to be responsible for picking the child.
    • All pupils who are matured enough to sign in or out on their own would only be allowed to do so on the condition of a pre-signed agreement between the school and the parents and such a student, once signed in would not be allowed to sign out until after closing time unless with a special permission from the school authority.
    • All shopping must be restricted within the school premises.
    • In case of any accident or emergency the school shall maintain a retainership with a medical Centre for issues that exceeds the capacity of our healing bay and shall report to the parent consequently after having done our best.

  • The Librarian must ensure that fire safety equipment such as smoke alarm; fire extinguishers, etc. are always available at a strategic point in the library.
  • When vacancies exist in the Academy, the vacancies would be advertised. Interested applicants would submit their handwritten application along with a comprehensive C.V. The shortlisted candidates would be invited for a written test, followed by an oral interview and a micro-class teaching session. (for the case of teachers). Those found successful would be invited for the final interview with the Coordinator and the Chairman.

    For a prospective teacher to qualify for employment, he/she must show to be an Evangelical Christian. He must believe in parenting as a mode of child training in the school. And must have a good knowledge of his/her field of study. He must possess good communication skills. He must be very neat and presentable. He must love children and must be computer literate or must be willing to be so trained.
